The call for a new SIG Co-Chair elect for the 2025 – 2027 conference years is now open! We are looking for SIG members at or above the postdoctoral level to apply for this position. Please refer to the criteria below for more details on who should apply.
Role description: This role begins as an “Elect” position for one year, followed by two years as Co-Chair. In the first year, the position can be a shadowing and support role, tailored to the Co-Chair Elect’s interests. Accordingly, the time commitment increases after the first year.
Main Duties:
- Provide broad oversight of SIG-disseminated content (e.g., seminars, social media) to ensure our mission is being carried out
- Coordinate and oversee SIG committees
- Support planning of the SIG Pre-Conference meeting and annual conference meeting
- Develop new SIG initiatives that foster our mission (e.g., creating and sustaining new SIG committees, expanding Convention-related events, improving SIG infrastructure)
- Collaborate with other SIG leaders (outside of ASDD SIG) and ABCT Central Office staff to advance ABCT’s mission
Time commitment: Varies throughout the year, with a greater time investment from July through December due to conference planning and year-end wrap-up. Approximately 2 hours per week from December – March, up to 10 hours per week in late summer/fall. Barring unforeseen circumstances, Co-Chairs are generally expected to attend the ABCT Convention in-person for all three years that they hold the position.
How to apply: Please email the following documents to Dr. Tyler Higgs ([email protected]) by October 1st, 2024:
- A copy of your CV
- A brief personal statement about your interest in the position (no more than 1 double-spaced page), describing:
- Past SIG participation
- Leadership experience
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and justice
- How your clinical, research, service, or advocacy work aligns with our SIG’s Mission and Goals and amplifies the priorities of the autistic community
Review process: See below for our detailed rubric for application evaluation. Past SIG Co-Chairs and current Committee Leads will review applications and provide feedback to the current Co-Chairs, who use this information to make the final selection. Please indicate in your e-mail if there is any sensitive information you would like to disclose only to current Co-Chairs (and not shared with the larger review panel).
