SIG Co-Chair Elect Applications

We are now seeking applications for our 2027 – 2029 Co-Chair.    

Who: Current ABCT members who are SIG members at or above the postdoctoral level.

Role Description: This three-year volunteer opportunity includes one year as Co-Chair Elect, followed by two years as Co-Chair. The Elect year begins as a shadowing and support role, with opportunities to lead SIG activities and tasks based on interest. Responsibilities are developmentally tailored based on experience.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Provide broad oversight of SIG-disseminated content (e.g., seminars, social media) to ensure our mission is being carried out.
  2. Coordinate and oversee SIG committees, including supporting committee leads in setting goals and tracking projects.
  3. Support planning of the SIG Pre-Conference and annual conference meeting
  4. Develop new SIG initiatives that foster our mission (e.g., creating and sustaining new SIG committees, expanding Convention-related events, improving SIG infrastructure)
  5. Collaborate across ABCT with other SIG leaders Central Office towards ABCT’s broader goals
  6. Foster an affirming culture that centers autistic expertise, access, and inclusion.

Time commitment: Co-Chairs meet weekly for one hour and  host a monthly group meeting with committee leads. Additional time demands vary, with a commitment of approximately 2 hours/week from December – April and up to 10 hours/week in late summer and fall related to annual conference activities. Co-Chairs are also expected to attend the ABCT Convention.

Review Process: Past SIG Co-Chairs and current Committee Leads will independently review and provide feedback to the current Co-Chairs, who make the final selection. Please indicate in your e-mail if there is any sensitive information you would like to disclose only to current Co-Chairs (and not shared with the larger review panel).
